Carlos Fernando Hermes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Agnaldo Bezerra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. After 5 played minutes Macaiba AF got a freekick which was hit by Dedé da Silveira. After 6 played minutes, Salsas's Luís Fabiano Furtado shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Agnaldo Bezerra came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Salsas reached it. 12 minutes into the match, Salsas's Luís Fabiano Furtado broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Macaiba AF's Agnaldo Bezerra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gugu Furtado in the 13th minute of play. Ruy da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Carlos Fernando Hermes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Agnaldo Bezerra was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Carlos Fernando Hermes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agnaldo Bezerra having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Fernando Hermes in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Agnaldo Bezerra saved Macaiba AF from getting behind. Gugu Furtado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Agnaldo Bezerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 37 minutes, Gugu Furtado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salsas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gugu Furtado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Salsas's Carlos Fernando Hermes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Agnaldo Bezerra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 41st minute, Ruy da Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 46 minutes of play, Salsas's Carlos Fernando Hermes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Agnaldo Bezerra was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Salsas were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Carlos Fernando Hermes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Fernando Hermes was extremely unlucky when he, in the 61st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The audience was convinced that Gugu Furtado's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Agnaldo Bezerra was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Ruy da Silveira hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. When Salsas's Carlos Fernando Hermes, in the 65th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Salsas. 69 minutes into the match, Salsas's goal looked a bit too open when Alexsandro Fernandes came free, but Ramón Godoi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute of the match Macaiba AF got a corner. Salsas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cláudio Lucas ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Macaiba AF's corner Cláudio Lucas fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ramón Godoi quite easily take care of the ball. If Gugu Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Carlos Fernando Hermes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Salsas's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Fernando Hermes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Agnaldo Bezerra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 78 minutes into the game, Salsas's Gugu Furtado nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Agnaldo Bezerra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 81st minute, Juarês Mello hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlos Fernando Hermes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 90th minute, Carlos Fernando Hermes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Macaiba AF's goalkeeper Agnaldo Bezerra, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Salsas's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
