In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind AD Academia Real's goalkeeper Aloísio Paulista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A hard shot by Rui do Vale from long distance, 6 minutes into the match, got Celso dos Santos's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Costello's Celso dos Santos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Costello from getting a goal against them. Celso dos Santos made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Jeremias Loureiro sent off a good shot on target. Celso dos Santos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeremias Loureiro in the 14th minute. Naldo Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Celso dos Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jeremias Loureiro in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Celso dos Santos saved Costello from getting behind. With his leg Celso dos Santos managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when AD Academia Real's Jeremias Loureiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A collision led to AD Academia Real getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Silvério Baiano hit a great ball. After 34 minutes, Waldemar de Toledo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AD Academia Real and the Costello players grew even worse after the yellow card. 34 minutes into the game, one of AD Academia Real:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Walmir Viana shot the penalty kick right outside the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Naldo Barreto in the 48th minute of play forced Costello's goalkeeper Celso dos Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

57 minutes into the match, Costello's goal looked a bit too open when Naldo Barreto came free, but Celso dos Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 58 played minutes Costello got a freekick which was hit by Gildo Coelho. Naldo Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute Paulo José Arruda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aloísio Paulista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Celso dos Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Naldo Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. When Gildo Coelho fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costello's protests and gave Gildo Coelho a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Costello getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Gildo Coelho hit a great ball. Naldo Barreto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Celso dos Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Naldo Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. After 75 played minutes Costello got a freekick which was hit by André Hermes. After a rather tough play, Costello's Paulo José Travassos got a free kick in the 80th minute. Alex Sampaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Aloísio Paulista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th minute, André Hermes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When AD Academia Real's Jeremias Loureiro in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costello's goalie prevented a goal. Alex Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aloísio Paulista having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
