C.'s Dadá Araújo got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Dadá Araújo sped through Confiança F.C's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Humberto Valle. Edmundo Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Valle having to interfere. The supporters of Confiança F.C booed when Souza Nogueira F. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulisses Cearense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Confiança F.C's Leandro Nascimento couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 31st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Souza Nogueira F. C.. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Isaltino Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Confiança F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Isaltino Terra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wágner Vaz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Souza Nogueira F. C.'s Wágner Vaz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisão Araújo in the 40th minute of play. Jailson Cearense could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Wágner Vaz made a huge save. Wágner Vaz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luisão Araújo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luisão Araújo to make the kick off. If Isaltino Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Isaltino Terra came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Confiança F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaltino Terra couldn't finish the play. Dadá Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th play minute Edmundo Moreno came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Humberto Valle. 1-2. In the 71st minute, Luisão Araújo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Humberto Valle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dadá Araújo in the 76th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Luisão Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Confiança F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Luisão Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wágner Vaz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Dadá Araújo, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 88 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Humberto Valle was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 90 minutes into the game, Souza Nogueira F. C.'s Edmundo Moreno nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Humberto Valle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. The Souza Nogueira F. C. supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Souza Nogueira F. C. would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
