After having played for 13 minutes, Paulinho Furtado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmeiras Corinthiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulinho Furtado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mazinho Mesquita scored 1-0 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Leonel Lopez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Leonel Lopez made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Mazinho Mesquita sent off a good shot on target. 22 minutes into the game, Waldir Teles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tanhacu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmeiras Corinthiano the free kick. A collision led to Tanhacu getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Waldir Teles hit a great ball. Rui Recife kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. When Edmílson Paraense fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tanhacu's protests and gave Edmílson Paraense a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th match minute, Tanhacu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmílson Paraense to maneuver through the defense. Mazinho Mesquita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Leonel Lopez when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Leonel Lopez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mazinho Mesquita in the 29th minute. Claudinei Mineiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Mazinho Mesquita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Leonel Lopez made a huge save. A collision led to Palmeiras Corinthiano getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Patrick Alvarenga hit a great ball. 47 minutes into the game, Edmílson Paraense cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Natanael Garcia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Edmílson Paraense made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mazinho Mesquita in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leonel Lopez saved Tanhacu from getting behind. Thanks to some nice moves Fernando Amorim could shoot a difficult shot in the 56th minute, which Natanael Garcia however easily saved by the left post. Tanhacu's Leonel Lopez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mazinho Mesquita in the 62nd minute of play. Mazinho Mesquita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Leonel Lopez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Claudinei Mineiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palmeiras Corinthiano's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudinei Mineiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leonel Lopez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Mazinho Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leonel Lopez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulinho Furtado in the 80th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mazinho Mesquita in the 84th minute of play forced Tanhacu's goalkeeper Leonel Lopez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonel Lopez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mazinho Mesquita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leonel Lopez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mazinho Mesquita, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Mazinho Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Natanael Garcia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Waldir Teles in the 93rd minute of the match. If Mazinho Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Palmeiras Corinthiano's Claudinei Mineiro got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Palmeiras Corinthiano players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
