An unexpectedly hard shot by Luizão Sabóia in the 9th minute of play forced Altair FC's goalkeeper Nilson Quaresma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Imperatriz's Wilton Koehler got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcus Vidal in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dudu Paraense saved Imperatriz from getting behind. Vicente Schmidt's late challenge caught a Altair FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vicente Schmidt helped the player get up and apologised. After 46 played minutes Imperatriz got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Schmidt. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marcus Vidal was the one to do the kick off. Altair FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcus Vidal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dudu Paraense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Imperatriz's Vicente Schmidt got his second yellow card of the match in the 66th minute. The referee ordered Vicente Schmidt off the ground. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dudu Paraense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bernardo Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Benê Rosado hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Paulo Renato Jacinto kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Reginaldo de Amaral's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nilson Quaresma read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. Altair FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
