The supporters of London do Sertão booed when JL Sport Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 12 played minutes London do Sertão got a freekick which was hit by Hortêncio da Fonseca. If Gilmar Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Ciro Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Haroldo Fonseca hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. In the 30thth minute of the game Percy Linhares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but London do Sertão's Guga Peixoto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Percy Linhares in the 31st minute of play forced London do Sertão's goalkeeper Guga Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Ciro Motta fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sidnei Santos, passed just outside the right post. 38 minutes into the match, JL Sport Clube's goalkeeper Sidnei Santos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hortêncio da Fonseca. After 40 played minutes London do Sertão got a freekick which was hit by Fernandão da Mata. Ciro Motta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Santos having to interfere. In the 48th minute of the match Enio Nóbrega shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sidnei Santos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ciro Motta to strike the kick off in the second half. Guga Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Haroldo Fonseca, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. If Percy Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gilmar Alves got free with Guga Peixoto in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sidnei Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciro Motta in the 67th minute of the match. After some careless play in the London do Sertão defense, Percy Linhares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guga Peixoto. The London do Sertão fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guga Peixoto should have stopped the shot. JL Sport Clube's Gilmar Alves got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Guga Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Percy Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. When London do Sertão's Hortêncio da Fonseca in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. JL Sport Clube's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 96th minute, Gilmar Alves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched JL Sport Clube eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
