Dudu Paraense acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 7th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Caetano Falcão. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldinho Aguiar in the 11th minute of play forced Imperatriz's goalkeeper Dudu Paraense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emanuel Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Koehler in the 14th minute of play. Ademar Godoi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luizão Sabóia might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emanuel Azevedo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luizão Sabóia ran back to his position shaking his head. After 18 minutes, Glauco Valadares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ipaarana AD and the Imperatriz players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 19 played minutes Ipaarana AD got a freekick which was hit by Glauco Valadares. When Imperatriz's Wilton Koehler in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ipaarana AD's goalie prevented a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luizão Sabóia in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emanuel Azevedo saved Ipaarana AD from getting behind. Dudu Paraense made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Ademar Godoi sent off a good shot on target. After 29 played minutes, Imperatriz's Basílio Peixoto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Emanuel Azevedo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Imperatriz reached it. 31 minutes into the match, Imperatriz's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldinho Aguiar came free, but Dudu Paraense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Wilton Koehler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Imperatriz's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilton Koehler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emanuel Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Luizão Sabóia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emanuel Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilton Koehler in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute Luizão Sabóia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luizão Sabóia to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of Ipaarana AD:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Imperatriz:s goal. The referee gave Imperatriz a penalty, 53 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Reginaldo de Amaral, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ipaarana AD's Emanuel Azevedo. 0-1. 57 minutes into the match, Imperatriz's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldinho Aguiar came free, but Dudu Paraense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Imperatriz's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Vladimir Alvarenga was slow to take the kick. During this time Ipaarana AD's players had a chance to rest. Osvaldinho Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dudu Paraense having to interfere. Ipaarana AD's Ademar Godoi got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dudu Paraense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldinho Aguiar in the 83rd minute of play. If Osvaldinho Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Wilton Koehler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Imperatriz eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
