But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luizão Sabóia couldn't finish the play. If João Vítor Paraense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, Albertinho Rossi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dudu Paraense. Imperatriz's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Albertinho Rossi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 21st minute João Vítor Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dudu Paraense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Witmarsum FC's zone, Vicente Schmidt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sebastião Corrêa came out of the goal and Vicente Schmidt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Luizão Sabóia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dudu Paraense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Vítor Paraense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Albertinho Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Dudu Paraense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When João Vítor Paraense came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Witmarsum FC fans jumped to their feet. After the first half Witmarsum FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luizão Sabóia to make the kick off. 60 minutes into the match, Imperatriz's goalkeeper Dudu Paraense had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramiro Amorim. Cido Mota took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dudu Paraense. Dudu Paraense dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. After a defensive mix-up in Imperatriz's zone, Albertinho Rossi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dudu Paraense came out of the goal and Albertinho Rossi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilton Koehler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Albertinho Rossi did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Dudu Paraense 79 minutes into the match. Ramiro Amorim's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 83rdth minute, Dudu Paraense skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. João Vítor Paraense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dudu Paraense having to interfere. Albertinho Rossi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Dudu Paraense made a huge save. If Albertinho Rossi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Witmarsum FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
