In the 11th minute, André Quirino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guga Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luizão Sabóia in the 12th minute of play. If Luizão Sabóia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luizão Sabóia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Guga Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Imperatriz's goalkeeper Dudu Paraense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to London do Sertão getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. João Francisco Paranaense hit a great ball. After 26 played minutes, Imperatriz's Reginaldo de Amaral shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Guga Peixoto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Imperatriz reached it. Luizão Sabóia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luizão Sabóia kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 41st match minute, Imperatriz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reginaldo de Amaral to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, London do Sertão's Fernandão da Mata tried to score from far away in the 42nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 46th minute of the match, Hortêncio da Fonseca got a very nice opportunity to score, but Dudu Paraense was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 49th minute, Ciro Motta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

With an all-out effort, Imperatriz's Guga Peixoto threw himself towards the right post 54 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luizão Sabóia, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Wilton Koehler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute, Hortêncio da Fonseca made a precise shot to the right of Dudu Paraense. Imperatriz's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Hortêncio da Fonseca succeeded in the game's 69th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. Dudu Paraense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Motta, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. London do Sertão's Guga Peixoto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luizão Sabóia in the 83rd minute of play. A collision led to London do Sertão getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Carlos Eduardo Vianna hit a great ball. Guga Peixoto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wilton Koehler went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Luizão Sabóia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guga Peixoto having to interfere. The supporters of Imperatriz booed when London do Sertão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinho Seco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Imperatriz were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
