Spectators: 6666 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1666, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. André Furlan started the match with the kick off. In the 7th minute, Dedé Sanches got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 10thth minute of the game Andrézinho Travassos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Suspiro's Amílton Custódio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Flamengo's Norberto Passos got a free kick in the 17th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Filipe Tinoco got free with José Augusto Fontes in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. José Augusto Fontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filipe Tinoco in the 21st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Suspiro's zone, Andrézinho Travassos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amílton Custódio came out of the goal and Andrézinho Travassos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Amílton Custódio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrézinho Travassos in the 24th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andrézinho Travassos in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Amílton Custódio saved Suspiro from getting behind. André Furlan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Augusto Fontes having to interfere. Amílton Custódio went to the wrong direction when Norberto Passos was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. 36 minutes in the game, Andrézinho Travassos dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Amílton Custódio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horácio Secco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Andrézinho Travassos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Amílton Custódio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Andrézinho Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Flamengo were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andrézinho Travassos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Filipe Tinoco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. José Augusto Fontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Horácio Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61stth minute of the game Filipe Tinoco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Flamengo's José Augusto Fontes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Suspiro getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Manfredo Fantini hit a great ball. Horácio Secco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Amílton Custódio made a huge save. In the 83rd minute, Flamengo's Andrézinho Travassos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. With his leg Amílton Custódio managed to avoid a goal in the 88thth minute, when Flamengo's Horácio Secco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andrézinho Travassos in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Amílton Custódio saved Suspiro from getting behind. Suspiro's Amílton Custódio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrézinho Travassos in the 94th minute of play. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Suspiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manfredo Fantini didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Flamengo could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Suspiro throughout the match.
