Amílton Custódio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Delfim França in the 9th minute of the match. 11 minutes into the match, Varzedo's Raúl Paraibano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amílton Custódio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Furlan in the 14th minute of play forced Varzedo's goalkeeper Fausto de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute Filipe Tinoco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto de Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute, Filipe Tinoco made a precise shot to the right of Fausto de Brito. Varzedo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Varzedo's Fausto de Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manfredo Fantini in the 23rd minute of play. Fausto de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filipe Tinoco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 31 minutes, Delfim França managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varzedo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Delfim França was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Suspiro's Amílton Custódio got control of the ball when Abelardo Antunes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Abelardo Antunes struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Amílton Custódio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varzedo. Abelardo Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amílton Custódio having to interfere. Abelardo Antunes struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Amílton Custódio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varzedo. In the 38th minute, Raúl Paraibano fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Amílton Custódio, passed just outside the right post. Raúl Paraibano scored 2-1 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Amílton Custódio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. André Furlan was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Suspiro booed when Varzedo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abelardo Antunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Varzedo's Wiliam Queiroz got a free kick in the 54th minute. Suspiro's André Furlan got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Varzedo defense, Filipe Tinoco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fausto de Brito. The Varzedo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fausto de Brito should have stopped the shot. Filipe Tinoco's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fausto de Brito firmly grabbed it by the left post. Raúl Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 2-3 became the score in the 67th minute when Filipe Tinoco elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 69th minute, Raúl Paraibano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varzedo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. The audience was convinced that Abelardo Antunes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amílton Custódio was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Suspiro's goalkeeper Amílton Custódio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Suspiro getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Vito Romero hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Suspiro defense, Delfim França kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Amílton Custódio. The Suspiro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Amílton Custódio should have stopped the shot. 87 minutes into the match, Varzedo's Raúl Paraibano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amílton Custódio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Delfim França had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abelardo Antunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Amílton Custódio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94th minute Juvenal Maranhense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amílton Custódio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Varzedo's Abelardo Antunes got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Varzedo had played much better football throughout.
