Zé Paulo Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrézinho Travassos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 10th match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dedé Sanches to maneuver through the defense. Andrézinho Travassos might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Paulo Costa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andrézinho Travassos ran back to his position shaking his head. Flamengo's Andrézinho Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mauro do Valle kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Andrézinho Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Paulo Costa having to interfere. In the 26th minute of the match João Augusto Simões shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but José Augusto Fontes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Doni Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Horácio Secco came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horácio Secco couldn't finish the play. Zé Paulo Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horácio Secco in the 37th minute of play. Andrézinho Travassos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zé Paulo Costa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. When Horácio Secco came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horácio Secco couldn't finish the play. The wind increased when Doni Teixeira made the kick off in the second half. Adelino Secco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Black Sails's Zé Paulo Costa got control of the ball when Horácio Secco tried to sneak it across the goal line. Angelo Luz hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After 59 minutes of play Black Sails's Angelo Luz was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Black Sails was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Luz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Black Sails's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Andrézinho Travassos 65 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Black Sails's Zé Paulo Costa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Black Sails from getting a goal against them. Horácio Secco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 77th minute, Cristiano Loureiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Norberto Passos, 78 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Black Sails's zone, Andrézinho Travassos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Paulo Costa came out of the goal and Andrézinho Travassos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Horácio Secco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Zé Paulo Costa made a huge save. In the 84th match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fiori Zanette to maneuver through the defense. José Augusto Fontes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adelino Secco in the 85th minute of play. If Adelino Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Horácio Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Despite being the better team, Flamengo failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
