Paulo Leme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gugu Duarte in the 26th minute of play. After having played for 28 minutes, Toninho Paraibano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Meaipe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Toninho Paraibano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Toninho Paraibano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Paulo Leme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gugu Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Glauco Meirelles fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sampa Team's protests and gave Glauco Meirelles a yellow card for diving instead. Glauco Meirelles kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. In the 38th minute of the match Adelino Barros shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulo Leme showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 42nd minute of the match, Amadeu Silva tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Osvaldinho Damião saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Sampa Team's Paulo Leme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Sampa Team from getting a goal against them.
