Samuel Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Osvaldinho Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 5 minutes into the game, Beto Leme was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Uberlandia E. C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Meaipe the free kick. In the last second Cauan Vianna throw himself and got hold of the ball when Gugu Duarte in the 7thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 9th minute David Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldinho Damião saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Toninho Paraibano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Uberlandia E. C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Toninho Paraibano scored to the left of an out of position Cauan Vianna, making the score, 1-0. Osvaldinho Damião made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuel Pena in the 27th minute of play. David Fantini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osvaldinho Damião having to interfere. In the 31st minute Samuel Pena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldinho Damião saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Osvaldinho Damião showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuel Pena in the 32nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Meaipe's Carlos Carioca got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 34th minute of the match Geovanni Aguiar shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Osvaldinho Damião showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Samuel Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Osvaldinho Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 37 minutes, David Fantini made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Meaipe's Osvaldinho Damião tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gugu Duarte to make the kick off. When Toninho Paraibano came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Meaipe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Toninho Paraibano couldn't finish the play. Cauan Vianna didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gugu Duarte went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Gugu Duarte took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cauan Vianna. Cauan Vianna dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Uberlandia E. C.'s David Fantini got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Samuel Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Uberlandia E. C.'s zone, Gugu Duarte stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cauan Vianna came out of the goal and Gugu Duarte tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 78 minutes into the match, Uberlandia E. C.'s Samuel Pena sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Osvaldinho Damião narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Samuel Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as Samuel Pena kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Osvaldinho Damião. That made the score 3-2 in the 82 minute of play. After having played for 87 minutes, Gugu Duarte managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Meaipe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gugu Duarte was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Uberlandia E. C. booed when Meaipe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aílton Dante during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Uberlandia E. C.'s David Fantini got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Meaipe had won after a very even match.
