In the 5th minute of the match Francisco Linhares sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luís Fernando Machado skillfully saved the ball. Ciro Simões's late challenge caught a 1981 Immortals's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ciro Simões helped the player get up and apologised. In the 7th match minute, Tubarão Londrinense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ciro Simões to maneuver through the defense. In the 9th minute 1981 Immortals were awarded a corner. Claudinho Paulista went to the cornerflag to take it. Dedê Leme was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Benedito Garcia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Raimundo Simões charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Raimundo Simões the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Tubarão Londrinense booed when 1981 Immortals was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raimundo Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball. Magno Teixeira was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 19th minute Virgílio Faria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Túlio Quintal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Virgílio Faria kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Túlio Quintal. That made the score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgílio Faria in the 28th minute of play forced 1981 Immortals's goalkeeper Túlio Quintal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Virgílio Faria came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Tubarão Londrinense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Virgílio Faria couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Tubarão Londrinense's Virgílio Faria slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Túlio Quintal. That made the score 2-0 after 36 minutes of play. 3-0 became the score in the 40th minute when Ciro Simões elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After having played for 47 minutes, Adelino Sá managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 1981 Immortals's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adelino Sá was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Virgílio Faria stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Virgílio Faria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Túlio Quintal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Virgílio Faria, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Luís Fernando Machado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adelino Sá in the 68th minute. Benedito Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Adelino Sá managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1981 Immortals's supporters rose to their feet, but Adelino Sá was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Fernando Machado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 78 minutes into the match, 1981 Immortals's Adelino Sá sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luís Fernando Machado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 1981 Immortals's Túlio Quintal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgílio Faria in the 81st minute of play. Tubarão Londrinense's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
