Spectators: 6655 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1655, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Ramiro Penha took the kick off in the first half of the match. 3 minutes into the match, Varjoia's goal looked a bit too open when Reynaldo Carioca came free, but Manfredo Magalhães reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mariano's Gualter Viana got a free kick in the 6th minute. Angelo Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramiro Penha in the 10th minute of play. Giovani Chaves charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giovani Chaves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Giovani Chaves hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. If Evaristo Valadares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Enéas Trevisan during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Enéas Trevisan kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Pedrão Varela struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Angelo Vale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varjoia. 29 minutes into the match, Varjoia's goal looked a bit too open when Lúcio Varela came free, but Manfredo Magalhães reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ramiro Penha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Angelo Vale having to make a save. Enéas Trevisan kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. The Varjoia fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when Varjoia's Pedrão Varela looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedrão Varela got free with Angelo Vale in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 66th minute, Lúcio de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lúcio Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mariano's Evaristo Valadares got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 79th minute Lúcio Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manfredo Magalhães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manfredo Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lúcio Varela, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Evaristo Valadares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manfredo Magalhães having to interfere. After having played for 84 minutes, Lúcio Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mariano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lúcio Varela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manfredo Magalhães made an important save on a dangerous shot by Evaristo Valadares in the 87th minute. Ramiro Penha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Angelo Vale having to make a save. After 90 played minutes Mariano got a freekick which was hit by Gualter Viana. Lúcio Varela was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 93rd minute. Mariano's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With a little luck, Varjoia's Manfredo Magalhães got control of the ball when Enéas Trevisan tried to sneak it across the goal line.
