Spectators: 7248 (Terracing: 5437, Seating: 1667, VIP seats: 144) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Paulo José Alcântara started the match with the kick off. After 9 minutes, Lúcio Varela mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mariano and the Patriota players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 9 played minutes Mariano got a freekick which was hit by Lúcio Varela. The audience was convinced that Lúcio Varela's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frédson Terra was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Rony Branco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Angelo Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute Paulo José Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angelo Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Patriota's Rony Branco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Angelo Vale narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 37th minute Paulo José Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Angelo Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Patriota's Frédson Terra got control of the ball when Evaristo Valadares tried to sneak it across the goal line. Evaristo Valadares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Frédson Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The wind increased when Lúcio Varela made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Evaristo Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mariano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evaristo Valadares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Angelo Vale made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rony Branco in the 55th minute. Angelo Vale was out of position in the 60 minute of play, and Paulo José Alcântara capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Paulo José Alcântara really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. After 64 minutes of play, Patriota's Paulo José Alcântara made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Angelo Vale was left in no man's land by his defense there! Angelo Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo José Alcântara in the 70th minute of the match. 72 minutes into the match, Patriota's Rony Branco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Angelo Vale narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Angelo Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo José Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Angelo Vale came out of the goal and Paulo José Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 89 played minutes Patriota got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldo Silveira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lúcio Varela in the 93rd minute of play forced Patriota's goalkeeper Frédson Terra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rony Branco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 97thth minute tested the skills of Angelo Vale when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The Patriota supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Patriota would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
