After a defensive mix-up in SC.Commanders's zone, Márcio Guerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Augusto Mesquita came out of the goal and Márcio Guerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SC.Commanders's Carlos Augusto Mesquita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dito Arce in the 35th minute of play. 41 minutes into the game, Geovani Meireles recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mané Carneiro. Geovani Meireles showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. After a rather tough play, Angico SS's Dito Arce got a free kick in the 46th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Gustavo de Queiroz couldn't finish the play.
