Válbson Quirino came out of the goal and Dino Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Caetano Barral took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nelson Terra. Nelson Terra dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. The audience was convinced that Beto Brito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nelson Terra was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. After some careless play in the C. R. FLAMENGO defense, Dino Ortiz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Válbson Quirino. The C. R. FLAMENGO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Válbson Quirino should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Caetano Barral in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Terra prevented the ball from getting in the gole. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nelson Terra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Caetano Barral's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Nestor Mendes did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-1 to the left of a surprised Nelson Terra 34 minutes into the match. After 42 played minutes, Estrema's Fábio Ferreira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Válbson Quirino came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Estrema reached it. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When Caetano Barral came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the C. R. FLAMENGO fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caetano Barral couldn't finish the play. In the 62nd minute, Caetano Barral got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 75 played minutes C. R. FLAMENGO got a freekick which was hit by Beto Brito. C. R. FLAMENGO's Caetano Barral got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Dino Ortiz came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Estrema fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dino Ortiz couldn't finish the play. Gil Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Válbson Quirino having to interfere. Estrema's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
