Atlético Salvador's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Antônio Carlos Mendes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emílio Brito having to make a save. Zeca Teixeira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emílio Brito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. Antônio Carlos Mendes might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emílio Brito. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Antônio Carlos Mendes ran back to his position shaking his head. When Marcelinho Magalhães fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ideal FC's protests and gave Marcelinho Magalhães a yellow card for diving instead. If Antônio Carlos Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Atlético Salvador's Matheus Tavares got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Zeca Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Emílio Brito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ideal FC's Emílio Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antônio Carlos Mendes in the 44th minute of play. Emílio Brito made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Zeca Teixeira sent off a good shot on target. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Antônio Carlos Mendes made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, Ideal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edinho de Queiroz to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Atlético Salvador's Erasmo da Rocha tried to score from far away in the 54th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 55 minutes into the game, Edinho de Queiroz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ideal FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Salvador the free kick. After a rather tough play, Ideal FC's Edinho de Queiroz got a free kick in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antônio Carlos Mendes in the 56th minute of play forced Ideal FC's goalkeeper Emílio Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 79th minute Antônio Carlos Mendes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emílio Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antônio Carlos Mendes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Emílio Brito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Percy Breckenfeld fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Dracena having to interfere. In the 95th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ideal FC's goalkeeper Emílio Brito, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Edinho de Queiroz kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Atlético Salvador fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ideal FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
