Flávio de Lara lost his temper 11 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Guiratinga fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 10th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Juvenal Valadares, was totally fooled by SUSSUARANA FC's Wilson Sergipano, who 13 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Telmo Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magno Cabral, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Magno Cabral struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Telmo Esteves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guiratinga. 20 minutes into the game, Gino Carioca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SUSSUARANA FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guiratinga the free kick. After a rather tough play, SUSSUARANA FC's Gino Carioca got a free kick in the 20th minute. If Magno Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 23 minutes of play, Guiratinga's Pedro Luiz Novaes made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Telmo Esteves was left in no man's land by his defense there! 28 minutes into the game, Magno Cabral cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Telmo Esteves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Magno Cabral came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Guiratinga fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Magno Cabral couldn't finish the play. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 56 minutes, Vitório Breckenfeld mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guiratinga and the SUSSUARANA FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Caco Freitas managed to get in a good position for a shot. SUSSUARANA FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Caco Freitas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Juvenal Valadares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 63 minutes, Pedro Luiz Novaes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guiratinga's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Luiz Novaes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, SUSSUARANA FC's Telmo Esteves got control of the ball when Magno Cabral tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 81st minute, Caco Freitas made a precise shot to the right of Juvenal Valadares. Guiratinga's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-3. After a defensive mix-up in SUSSUARANA FC's zone, Magno Cabral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Esteves came out of the goal and Magno Cabral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Magno Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Esteves having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vitório Breckenfeld got free with Telmo Esteves in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Caco Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
