An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe das Neves in the 12th minute of play forced Santos Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oscar Mattos received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Luiz Paulo Araújo came out and tried to block the shot, but Oscar Mattos slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 14th minute. In the 21st minute, Paranavai's Renato Sanches ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luiz Paulo Araújo. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gilberto Fernandez made a kick off. Gilberto Fernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arí Severo having to interfere.
