Luiz Fabiano Donatello breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dadá Sergipano was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 17th minute. São Paulo F.C.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Ricardo Arantes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Fabiano Donatello having to make a save. Antonio Mel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Fabiano Donatello read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. In the 24th minute, Afonso Toledo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antonio Mel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Luiz Fabiano Donatello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 32nd minute of the game. One of Atlétic Mauhilay AD:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of São Paulo F.C.:s goal. Atlétic Mauhilay AD:s Tadeu Guedes showed great skill when he stopped Jânio Favoretto:s penalty. 34 minutes into the game, Dadá Sergipano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. São Paulo F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlétic Mauhilay AD the free kick. Luiz Fabiano Donatello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Mel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Atlétic Mauhilay AD's Tadeu Guedes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Atlétic Mauhilay AD from getting a goal against them. Atlétic Mauhilay AD's Cafu Barral got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ricardo Arantes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Luiz Fabiano Donatello having to make a save. If Cafu Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Antonio Mel was the one to do the kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game André Luiz Bueno who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but São Paulo F.C.'s Luiz Fabiano Donatello was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Antonio Mel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, São Paulo F.C.'s Murilo Salgado got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 74th minute, Ricardo Arantes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlétic Mauhilay AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Luiz Fabiano Donatello made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Antonio Mel sent off a good shot on target. If Cafu Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. São Paulo F.C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Cafu Barral scored to the left of an out of position Luiz Fabiano Donatello, making the score, 1-3. Cafu Barral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ricardo Arantes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 91st minute, Antonio Mel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Antonio Mel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Luiz Fabiano Donatello tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94th minute Cafu Barral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Fabiano Donatello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Atlétic Mauhilay AD left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than São Paulo F.C..
