Spectators: 7314 (Terracing: 5487, Seating: 1682, VIP seats: 145) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Régis Mendes kicked off to start the match. Osmar Quintal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tostão Pimenta in the 4th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the match, Gremio's goal looked a bit too open when Gerson Mesquita came free, but Osmar Quintal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Equipe booed when Gremio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Capixaba didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Régis Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Equipe getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Gerson Mesquita hit a great ball. In the 35th match minute, Equipe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eugênio da Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. Claudinei Veiga was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 36th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Daniel Capixaba's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Davi Tinoco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Luiz Fernando Proença sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Frederico Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Davi Tinoco having to interfere.

In the 54th minute, Tostão Pimenta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Davi Tinoco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Capixaba in the 63rd minute. 64 minutes into the match, Equipe's Gerson Mesquita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Osmar Quintal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 66th minute of the match Equipe got a corner. Gremio's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luiz Fernando Proença ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Equipe's Luiz Fernando Proença to fire away a dangerous shot which Osmar Quintal despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 68 minutes into the game, Régis Mendes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Osmar Quintal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 71 minutes, Gerson Mesquita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Equipe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerson Mesquita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Renatinho Britto kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Osmar Quintal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Régis Mendes's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Régis Mendes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 92 minutes, Régis Mendes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Equipe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Régis Mendes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Equipe's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
