Fernandão Pirani hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the match, Time Ruim's goal looked a bit too open when Enio Prestes came free, but Severino dos Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With 27 minutes on the clock, Joaquim Mattos commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Robinho Xavier placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Nildo Arruda acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 47th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Ricardinho de Castro. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sebastião Leão was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that Sebastião Leão's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nildo Arruda was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game.
