In the 19th minute Fábio Sabóia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Novaes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Luís França charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pedro Luís França the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Pedro Luís França hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Jarbas de Queiroz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel Lopes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Jean Monteiro took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Novaes. José Novaes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jean Monteiro was the one to do the kick off. Zé Paulo Sabóia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel Lopes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. 58 minutes into the game, Didi Tande was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Águia Branca FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ihum the free kick. José Novaes had in the 59thth minute some difficulties stopping Zeca Queirós's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ihum's zone, Zé Paulo Sabóia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joel Lopes came out of the goal and Zé Paulo Sabóia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 65th minute, Marco Galvão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Águia Branca FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jarbas de Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ihum's Joel Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarbas de Queiroz in the 99th minute of play.
