Cláudio Alcântara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jarbas de Queiroz's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. If Zé Paulo Sabóia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jarbas de Queiroz in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cláudio Alcântara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Jarbas de Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Jarbas de Queiroz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cláudio Alcântara was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. In the 27th minute Pedro Augusto Branco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Novaes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Águia Branca FC's Zé Paulo Sabóia in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye santos's goalie prevented a goal. Jarbas de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Alcântara having to interfere. Zé Paulo Sabóia took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cláudio Alcântara. Cláudio Alcântara dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After some careless play in the santos defense, Zé Paulo Sabóia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cláudio Alcântara. The santos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cláudio Alcântara should have stopped the shot. Jarbas de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Alcântara having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, santos's Víktor Batista sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Novaes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 47 minutes of play, santos's Pedro Augusto Branco made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. José Novaes was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Orlando Souto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 53rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for José Novaes. Águia Branca FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Zé Paulo Sabóia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Cláudio Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 61 played minutes Águia Branca FC got a freekick which was hit by Benjamim de Lara. 63 minutes into the match, Águia Branca FC's goal looked a bit too open when Víktor Batista came free, but José Novaes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cláudio Alcântara made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Zé Paulo Sabóia sent off a good shot on target. santos's Cláudio Alcântara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jarbas de Queiroz in the 67th minute of play. Eriberto dos Santos hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Jarbas de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cláudio Alcântara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jarbas de Queiroz's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. After having played for 90 minutes, Jarbas de Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Águia Branca FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jarbas de Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 93 minutes into the match, santos's goalkeeper Cláudio Alcântara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Paulo Sabóia. Cláudio Alcântara came out of the goal in the 98th minute to try and stop a shot by Águia Branca FC's Jarbas de Queiroz. But to his dismay, Jarbas de Queiroz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Águia Branca FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
