In the 24th minute, Glauco França got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 27 played minutes IMW Aracruz F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Glauco França. In the 30th minute, Toninho Bastos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zeca Camargo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wilson Zanette struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Claudinei Teles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for União Bandeirante F.C.. With a little luck, União Bandeirante F.C.'s Silvinho Valadares got control of the ball when Zeca Camargo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Claudinei Teles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toninho Bastos in the 47th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Glauco França made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, IMW Aracruz F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Toninho Bastos came free, but Claudinei Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toninho Bastos in the 54th minute of play forced IMW Aracruz F.C.'s goalkeeper Claudinei Teles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee showed Zeca Camargo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Toninho Bastos ran back to his position shaking his head. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
