After 24 minutes, Guto Madureira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santos Futebol Clube and the Luzerna players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Santos Futebol Clube's Guto Madureira got a free kick in the 25th minute. Gilmar de Lima showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ademir de Lima in the 33rd minute of the match. 37 minutes into the match, Santos Futebol Clube's Nuno de Azevedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Giuseppe Campidelis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Pedro Luís Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santos Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Luís Ramos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cleiton Sá stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The Santos Futebol Clube fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. After a rather tough play, Luzerna's Josué da Mata got a free kick in the 85th minute. Gilmar de Lima showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cleiton Sá, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Santos Futebol Clube's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
