Santos Futebol Clube's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Fausto Netto was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Guto Madureira capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Guto Madureira really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. In the 32nd minute Leonardo Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilmar de Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Celso Porto lost his temper 34 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. It was beautiful to see Alpinino FC's Elano de Mendonça in action when he in the 37th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Guto Madureira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fausto Netto having to make a save. If Luís Guilherme Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guto Madureira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fausto Netto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. After 43 minutes, Luís Fabiano Dracena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alpinino FC and the Santos Futebol Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Santos Futebol Clube's zone, Gernando Vergílio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilmar de Lima came out of the goal and Gernando Vergílio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedro Luís Ramos to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice moves Valdemar Pinheiro could shoot a difficult shot in the 53rd minute, which Gilmar de Lima however easily saved by the left post. Fausto Netto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luís Ramos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Luís Ramos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Netto having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Luís Guilherme Alves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 60th match minute, Alpinino FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luís Fabiano Dracena to maneuver through the defense. Fausto Netto came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Santos Futebol Clube's Luís Guilherme Alves. But to his dismay, Luís Guilherme Alves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. With an all-out effort, Alpinino FC's Gilmar de Lima threw himself towards the right post 67 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Paulão Senna, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Clóvis Pinheiro kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. 74 minutes into the match, Valdemar Pinheiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gilmar de Lima. Santos Futebol Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valdemar Pinheiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Thanks to some nice moves Valdemar Pinheiro could shoot a difficult shot in the 77th minute, which Gilmar de Lima however easily saved by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luís Guilherme Alves during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Santos Futebol Clube's Gilmar de Lima played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulão Senna in the 88th minute of play. Santos Futebol Clube were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
