Nelsinho Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlinhos Paranaense, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Amílton Maia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nelsinho Tavares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. Hermínio Teles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Carlinhos Paranaense took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nelsinho Tavares. Nelsinho Tavares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlinhos Paranaense in the 14th minute of play forced Novo Baependy's goalkeeper Nelsinho Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Almir Santos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Jardel Matos made a huge save. In the 17th minute, Zé Carlos Luz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Almir Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Amílton Maia in the 21st minute of play forced Novo Baependy's goalkeeper Nelsinho Tavares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Carlinhos Paranaense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Portuguesa Lions's Jardel Matos got control of the ball when Almir Santos tried to sneak it across the goal line. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlinhos Paranaense stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Novo Baependy's goalkeeper Nelsinho Tavares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Hermínio Teles fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Novo Baependy's protests and gave Hermínio Teles a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Novo Baependy getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Hermínio Teles hit a great ball. When Víktor Tróia fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Portuguesa Lions's protests and gave Víktor Tróia a yellow card for diving instead. In the 55th match minute, Portuguesa Lions was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Víktor Tróia to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulão Barbosa during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Carlinhos Paranaense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Novo Baependy fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Portuguesa Lions were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
