Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Chapadinho's goal looked a bit too open when Dudu Duarte came free, but Nildo Romero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Dudu Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute, Juarês Albuquerque reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nildo Romero. The goal made the score 1-0. Luiz Fábio Saldanha charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luiz Fábio Saldanha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 25 played minutes Chapadinho got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Saldanha. Nildo Romero showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dudu Duarte in the 25th minute of the match. Chapadinho's Nildo Romero proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Chapadinho from getting a goal against them. If Juarês Albuquerque had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 34th minute Dudu Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nildo Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Chapadinho defense, Juarês Albuquerque kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nildo Romero. The Chapadinho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nildo Romero should have stopped the shot. Dudu Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luiz Fábio Saldanha hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Itatuba SS's Benê Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Moreira in the 47th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gustavo Moreira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Juarês Albuquerque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Nildo Romero tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Itatuba SS fans' excitement grew in the 60th match minute when Itatuba SS's Dudu Duarte looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Pedro Augusto França's late challenge caught a Chapadinho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dudu Duarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Chapadinho's zone, Juarês Albuquerque stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nildo Romero came out of the goal and Juarês Albuquerque tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nildo Romero stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dudu Duarte's shot from short distance in the 99th minute. When the referee ended the match the Itatuba SS players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
