Spectators: 6665 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1665, VIP seats: 0) After a defensive mix-up in BYU Cougars ®'s zone, Dito Botelho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Márcio Valle came out of the goal and Dito Botelho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 8 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for BYU Cougars ®! Leopoldo Rosado placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! 16 minutes into the match, Tomasia's goal looked a bit too open when Hernani dos Santos came free, but Sydney Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Márcio Valle was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Benjamin Azevedo. Artur Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sydney Esteves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernani dos Santos in the 25th minute of play. Sydney Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Noel Trigo in the 28th minute of the match. Sydney Esteves came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by BYU Cougars ®'s Noel Trigo. But to his dismay, Noel Trigo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Tomasia's Sydney Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernani dos Santos in the 35th minute of play. 36 minutes into the game, BYU Cougars ®'s Noel Trigo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sydney Esteves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Hélio Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dito Botelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Márcio Valle having to interfere. Hélio Velloso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hélio Velloso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Márcio Valle made a huge save. The Tomasia players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. BYU Cougars ® were winning 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dito Botelho to strike the kick off in the second half. Hélio Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Márcio Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Márcio Valle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dito Botelho in the 60th minute of play. Hélio Velloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Márcio Valle having to interfere. In the 64th match minute, Tomasia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artur Quintal to maneuver through the defense. 70 minutes into the game, Paulinho Barral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BYU Cougars ®'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tomasia the free kick. The supporters of Tomasia booed when BYU Cougars ® was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulinho Barral didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 73 minutes BYU Cougars ®'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Leopoldo Rosado who took care of the corner kick. Tomasia's Leopoldo Rosado was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Márcio Valle in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 76th minute, Dito Botelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 77 minutes into the game, Zézinho Fantini was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BYU Cougars ®'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tomasia the free kick. In the 77th minute, Zézinho Fantini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dito Botelho might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Márcio Valle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dito Botelho ran back to his position shaking his head. After 86 played minutes BYU Cougars ® got a freekick which was hit by Tostão Hoffmann. Márcio Valle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dito Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the game, Hernani dos Santos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BYU Cougars ®'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tomasia the free kick. After 92 played minutes BYU Cougars ® got a freekick which was hit by Hernani dos Santos. Dito Botelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Márcio Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sílvio Vidal hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Tomasia's Leopoldo Rosado tried to score from far away in the 98th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The BYU Cougars ® supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing BYU Cougars ® would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
