The supporters of Tomasia booed when Caruaru FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Augusto Mesquita didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Zé Augusto Mesquita came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Caruaru FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Augusto Mesquita couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dito Botelho in the 23rd minute of play forced Caruaru FC's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Coelho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sydney Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Augusto Mesquita in the 24th minute of the match. In the 26th minute Hélio Velloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fábio Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Augusto Mesquita in the 35th minute of play forced Tomasia's goalkeeper Sydney Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sydney Esteves was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Zé Augusto Mesquita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 41 minute of play. If Hélio Velloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 49 minutes into the match, Zé Augusto Mesquita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sydney Esteves, 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dito Botelho to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Hélio Velloso made a precise shot to the right of Luís Fábio Coelho. Caruaru FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Hélio Velloso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fábio Coelho having to interfere. Caruaru FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Dito Botelho 65 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-3. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Dito Botelho put it in 2-4 from a short distance just to the right of Luís Fábio Coelho. When Zé Augusto Mesquita came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Caruaru FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Augusto Mesquita couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Tomasia defense, Fabiano Vinhas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sydney Esteves. The Tomasia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sydney Esteves should have stopped the shot. 89 minutes into the match, Caruaru FC's goal looked a bit too open when Dito Botelho came free, but Luís Fábio Coelho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Caruaru FC's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Coelho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hélio Velloso. Hélio Velloso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 98 played minutes Caruaru FC got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Marques. After 101 minutes Caruaru FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Leopoldo Rosado who took care of the corner kick. Tomasia's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
