Spectators: 5491 (Terracing: 3700, Seating: 1649, VIP seats: 142) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Hernani dos Santos started the match with the kick off. Pedrinho Garcia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernani dos Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hernani dos Santos in the 7th minute of play forced Zezito's goalkeeper Pedrinho Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Noel Trigo might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedrinho Garcia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Noel Trigo ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 10 minutes, Noel Trigo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BYU Cougars ®'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Noel Trigo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Hernani dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the match, BYU Cougars ®'s goal looked a bit too open when Zézinho de Alcântara came free, but Márcio Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Zezito's zone, Hernani dos Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedrinho Garcia came out of the goal and Hernani dos Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 25 minutes into the game, Noel Trigo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Pedrinho Garcia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Noel Trigo came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the BYU Cougars ® fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Noel Trigo couldn't finish the play. When Zezito's Zézinho de Alcântara in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye BYU Cougars ®'s goalie prevented a goal. 39 minutes into the game, Rony Vinhas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Márcio Valle. Rony Vinhas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Zezito's Zézinho de Alcântara got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Enrique Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

BYU Cougars ®'s Márcio Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho de Alcântara in the 52nd minute of play. With his leg Pedrinho Garcia managed to avoid a goal in the 56thth minute, when BYU Cougars ®'s Noel Trigo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Hernani dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 68th minute, Enrique Amorim made a precise shot to the right of Márcio Valle. BYU Cougars ®'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. When Osvaldo Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Zezito fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Osvaldo Amaral couldn't finish the play. Rony Vinhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Márcio Valle having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Rony Vinhas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Sílvio Vidal fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored BYU Cougars ®'s protests and gave Sílvio Vidal a yellow card for diving instead. In the 90th match minute, BYU Cougars ® was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Vidal to maneuver through the defense. Zezito's Dino da Cunha couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 90th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for BYU Cougars ®. In the 93rd minute, Zézinho de Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
