The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ian de Castro during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th minute, Ian de Castro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the game, Luís Gustavo Guimarães cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Luiz Fabiano dos Santos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cláudio Freitas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes, Natanael Chaves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guaxindiba AD and the Tar ar ais players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pedrão Vergílio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elivélton Donatello in the 64th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Luís Gustavo Guimarães managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tar ar ais's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Gustavo Guimarães was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Fabiano dos Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Erik Schmidt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pedrão Vergílio was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. The supporters of Guaxindiba AD booed when Tar ar ais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Tar ar ais's zone, Erik Schmidt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedrão Vergílio came out of the goal and Erik Schmidt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Guaxindiba AD players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Tar ar ais.
