In the 11th minute, Oséias Tande got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Oséias Tande in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Naldo Bertassi saved Punau SS from getting behind. When Luciano Coelho fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Punau SS's protests and gave Luciano Coelho a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Punau SS getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Luciano Coelho hit a great ball. When Oséias Tande came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the F C São Paulo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oséias Tande couldn't finish the play. Tomás Linhares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Oséias Tande fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naldo Bertassi having to interfere. When F C São Paulo's Tomás Linhares in the 26th minute got a chance for a shot 26th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Punau SS's Luís Barral got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Alvarenga in the 54th minute of play forced F C São Paulo's goalkeeper Thiago Gaspar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomás Linhares in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Naldo Bertassi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 59th match minute, F C São Paulo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nelson Varela to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Punau SS's Naldo Bertassi got control of the ball when Oséias Tande tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Luís Barral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Gaspar was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game.
