But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabrício Maia couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Luizinho Ribeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Star Sports Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Luizinho Ribeiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tostão Tepedino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Serafim Paulista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Tostão Tepedino came out of the goal and Luizinho Ribeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luizinho Ribeiro in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tostão Tepedino prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With his leg Tostão Tepedino managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when Star Sports Clube's Luizinho Ribeiro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 48 minutes into the game, Samuel Cardoso recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tostão Tepedino. Samuel Cardoso showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
