Afonso Carvalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antônio Carlos Mello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amílton Costa hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Egídio Prado who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Afonso Carvalho when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Egídio Prado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Afonso Carvalho made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antônio Carlos Mello in the 45th minute of play forced Dorime FC's goalkeeper Afonso Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Dorime FC booed when EC Bahia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adriano Bittencourt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dorime FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EC Bahia the free kick. Dorime FC's Afonso Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Egídio Prado in the 66th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Oséas Pena made a precise shot to the right of Afonso Carvalho. Dorime FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Dorime FC's Dadá Rosa got his second yellow card of the match in the 74th minute. The referee ordered Dadá Rosa off the ground. After 75 played minutes, EC Bahia's Adriano Bittencourt shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Afonso Carvalho came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dorime FC's goalkeeper Afonso Carvalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Afonso Carvalho came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by EC Bahia's Egídio Prado. But to his dismay, Egídio Prado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. The audience was convinced that Antônio Carlos Mello's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Afonso Carvalho was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. A collision led to Dorime FC getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Adrianinho Souto hit a great ball. EC Bahia's Adriano Bittencourt couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 87th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Dorime FC. In the 89th minute, Antônio Carlos Mello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Antônio Carlos Mello received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Afonso Carvalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
