Luan Barral came free with the goalkeeper in the 12th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Francisco Mesquita could save by the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Luan Barral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mirantão FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Luan Barral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francisco Mesquita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Baxix's zone, Luan Barral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisco Mesquita came out of the goal and Luan Barral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mirantão FC's Hamílton Goiano got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hamílton Goiano to make the kick off. In the 54th minute Hamílton Goiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Francisco Mesquita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 59 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Baxix! After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Dadá Britto managed to get in a good position for a shot. After 89 played minutes, Mirantão FC's Ronaldo Vieira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Francisco Mesquita came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mirantão FC reached it. When Reinaldo Xavier fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Baxix's protests and gave Reinaldo Xavier a yellow card for diving instead. In the 90th match minute, Baxix was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaldo Xavier to maneuver through the defense. Mirantão FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
