Goianapolis's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Martelet the free kick. Manuel Penha hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. 11 minutes into the match, Martelet's goal looked a bit too open when Lenílson Schmidt came free, but Nelson Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Goianapolis's zone, José Augusto Koehler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tiago Cruz came out of the goal and José Augusto Koehler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lenílson Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Nelson Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Lenílson Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Goianapolis's Tiago Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elder Magalhães in the 25th minute of play. If Elder Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice moves José Augusto Koehler could shoot a difficult shot in the 32nd minute, which Tiago Cruz however easily saved by the left post. Lenílson Schmidt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nelson Monteiro having to make a save. Manfredo Pimenta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Genílson Sena fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Martelet's protests and gave Genílson Sena a yellow card for diving instead. In the 41st minute, Genílson Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manfredo Pimenta in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Monteiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Lenílson Schmidt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Elder Magalhães made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Elder Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiago Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 55th match minute, Goianapolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Penha to maneuver through the defense. 56 minutes into the match, Martelet's Robinho da Fonseca broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 62 minutes into the match, Goianapolis's goal looked a bit too open when José Augusto Koehler came free, but Tiago Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tiago Cruz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Augusto Koehler in the 67th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the match, Goianapolis's goal looked a bit too open when Elder Magalhães came free, but Tiago Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
