Renatinho Maranhense recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Doru Bistreanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Linhares having to interfere. Jânio Fantini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 8 minutes into the match, Sabadini's goal looked a bit too open when Clayton Gerson came free, but Carlos Alberto Linhares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 16 played minutes Sabadini got a freekick which was hit by Flávio Vieira. Horácio Velloso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 16th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carlos Alberto Linhares. Sabadini's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Sabadini's goal looked a bit too open when Clayton Gerson came free, but Carlos Alberto Linhares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sabadini's Fernandinho Moreira got a free kick in the 18th minute. After 26 minutes, Doru Bistreanu made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Sabadini's Carlos Alberto Linhares tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Sabadini's Carlos Alberto Linhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clayton Gerson in the 30th minute of play. If Doru Bistreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jânio Fantini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in Sabadini fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 47th minute. Penalty! Horácio Velloso shot the penalty kick right outside the post. After the first half Escobar were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Carlos Alberto Linhares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Doru Bistreanu in the 53rd minute. After some careless play in the Sabadini defense, Jânio Fantini kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Alberto Linhares. The Sabadini fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Alberto Linhares should have stopped the shot. Doru Bistreanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Carlos Alberto Linhares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 61 minutes into the match, Sabadini's goal looked a bit too open when Clayton Gerson came free, but Carlos Alberto Linhares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Doru Bistreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tiago Gabriel Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Alberto Linhares came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Escobar's Doru Bistreanu. But to his dismay, Doru Bistreanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. The Escobar fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when Escobar's Doru Bistreanu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-7 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 75 minutes into the match, Doru Bistreanu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Alberto Linhares. Sabadini's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Doru Bistreanu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-8. Carlos Alberto Linhares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodrigo de Queirós in the 80th minute. In the 87th play minute Doru Bistreanu came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Carlos Alberto Linhares. 0-10. Carlos Alberto Linhares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clayton Gerson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Alberto Linhares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Bistreanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When the match was over Escobar could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sabadini throughout the match.
