The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a little luck, Real Sociedad's Thiago Leite got control of the ball when Jânio Fantini tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Real Sociedad's zone, Doru Bistreanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Leite came out of the goal and Doru Bistreanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thiago Leite came out of the goal and Jânio Fantini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 27 minutes into the match, Escobar's Doru Bistreanu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Leite narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Escobar's Doru Bistreanu got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Clayton Gerson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Thiago Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Doru Bistreanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago Leite having to interfere. Davi Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago Leite having to interfere. If Doru Bistreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Clayton Gerson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Escobar's supporters rose to their feet, but Clayton Gerson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thiago Leite breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Doru Bistreanu made a kick off. After 52 minutes, Clayton Gerson made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Real Sociedad's Thiago Leite tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Clayton Gerson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Thiago Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 56 minutes, Tiago Gabriel Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Escobar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiago Gabriel Varela was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Real Sociedad's Thiago Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clayton Gerson in the 62nd minute of play. Doru Bistreanu kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. When the match clock showed 66 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Doru Bistreanu sped through Real Sociedad's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Thiago Leite. Doru Bistreanu struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Thiago Leite didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Escobar. If Jânio Fantini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clayton Gerson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Albertinho Secco during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Real Sociedad's Albertinho Secco got a free kick in the 75th minute. 78 minutes into the game, Escobar's Jânio Fantini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Thiago Leite made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Doru Bistreanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Jânio Koehler fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Real Sociedad's protests and gave Jânio Koehler a yellow card for diving instead. Escobar made a substitution. Rony Cearense replaced Renatinho Maranhense. In the 97th minute, Jânio Koehler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Escobar walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
