When Adrianinho Donato came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Malhadinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adrianinho Donato couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Sabadini's zone, Adrianinho Donato stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Alberto Linhares came out of the goal and Adrianinho Donato tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Júlio Gomes fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sabadini's protests and gave Júlio Gomes a yellow card for diving instead. After 18 played minutes Sabadini got a freekick which was hit by Júlio Gomes. 22 minutes into the match, Malhadinho's goal looked a bit too open when Júlio Gomes came free, but Patrick Urbano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dé de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adrianinho Donato received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Carlos Alberto Linhares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Benedito Macedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Elói Pontes hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Adrianinho Donato blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Alberto Linhares having to make a save. Dé de Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Alberto Linhares having to interfere. Adrianinho Donato received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Carlos Alberto Linhares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Elói Pontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Malhadinho's Adrianinho Donato in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sabadini's goalie prevented a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Roberto Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Malhadinho's supporters rose to their feet, but Roberto Linhares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Alberto Linhares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Malhadinho's zone, Júlio Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Júlio Gomes to strike the kick off in the second half. If Roberto Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Alberto Linhares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrianinho Donato in the 53rd minute of play. Roberto Linhares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 62nd minute, Dé de Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 65th minute Adrianinho Donato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Alberto Linhares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sabadini's Antônio Carlos Berger got a free kick in the 67th minute. Malhadinho's Adrianinho Donato managed to work through Sabadini's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Adrianinho Donato dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. If Benedito Macedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute.
