In the 17th minute, Santa Cruz do Sul's Baltazar Cruz dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Aílton Figueiredo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gualter Pombal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 79thth minute of the game Artur da Mata who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but bubatoons's Aílton Figueiredo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gualter Pombal in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aílton Figueiredo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Diguinho Matorin's late challenge caught a Santa Cruz do Sul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diguinho Matorin helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to bubatoons getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Diguinho Matorin hit a great ball. Gualter Pombal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Aílton Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Maurício Queiroz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cafu Martins having to make a save. During the 95th minute of the match Diguinho Matorin completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Diguinho Matorin a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 96 played minutes bubatoons got a freekick which was hit by Diguinho Matorin. bubatoons's Aílton Figueiredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur da Mata in the 97th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Santa Cruz do Sul fully deserved thier win.
