Vivaldo Corrêa started the match with the kick off. Gualter Pombal kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Silvinho Rosado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu Martins having to interfere. A collision led to Santa Cruz do Sul getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Gualter Pombal hit a great ball. Luís Eduardo Batista kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. João Mineiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gualter Pombal in the 31st minute of the match. Toltz Paulista's Remo Almeida got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cafu Martins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vivaldo Corrêa in the 37th minute of play. Gualter Pombal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Gualter Pombal made the kick off in the second half. Gualter Pombal hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. Toltz Paulista's João Mineiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gualter Pombal in the 54th minute of play. Marcel Sousa hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the match, Gualter Pombal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Mineiro. Toltz Paulista's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gualter Pombal was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. 63 minutes into the match, Santa Cruz do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Remo Almeida came free, but Cafu Martins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute, Murillo Arantes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Artur da Mata hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Toltz Paulista's Frédson Moraes got a free kick in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute of the match Murillo Arantes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but João Mineiro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gualter Pombal in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck João Mineiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Vivaldo Corrêa came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Toltz Paulista fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vivaldo Corrêa couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Santa Cruz do Sul booed when Toltz Paulista was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frédson Moraes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd minute, Gualter Pombal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Mineiro was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. When the referee blew the final whistle, Santa Cruz do Sul could leave the field as winners, despite Toltz Paulista having more of the ball for most of the match.
