In the 10th minute Jerônimo dos Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Charles Pirani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elias Coelho charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elias Coelho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jerônimo dos Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Charles Pirani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Pedro Mangueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Paulo Guedes, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Jerônimo dos Santos dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Charles Pirani, 2-0. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Zé Paulo Goiano put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of José Pedro Mangueira. 42 minutes into the game, Horácio da Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paulista FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gomes the free kick. In the 42nd minute, Horácio da Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

In the 53rd minute of the match Paulista FC got a corner. Gomes's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luiz de Queiroz ran over to the corner to take the kick. Geovânio Vianna hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. When Zé Paulo Goiano came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Gomes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Paulo Goiano couldn't finish the play. In the 63rd minute, Elias Coelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The corner led Paulista FC's Luiz de Queiroz to fire away a dangerous shot which Charles Pirani despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Zé Paulo Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Pedro Mangueira having to interfere. When Arthur Guedes fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gomes's protests and gave Arthur Guedes a yellow card for diving instead. After 72 played minutes Gomes got a freekick which was hit by Arthur Guedes. After some careless play in the Gomes defense, Telmo Vergílio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Charles Pirani. The Gomes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Charles Pirani should have stopped the shot. Telmo Vergílio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Pedro Mangueira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Paulo Guedes in the 89th minute. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 90th minute, but José Pedro Mangueira got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Paulista FC hanging dry this time. When Gomes's Zé Paulo Goiano in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Paulista FC's goalie prevented a goal. If Pedro Paulo Guedes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the match, Pedro Paulo Guedes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Pedro Mangueira. Paulista FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pedro Paulo Guedes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Paulista FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gomes for a fine match.
