In the 16th minute, Manuel Carvalho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joel Souto was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Manuel Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Joel Souto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manuel Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joel Souto having to interfere. Celso Guimarães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Celso Guimarães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Tiaguinho Medeiros fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tropa Elite's protests and gave Tiaguinho Medeiros a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd match minute, Tropa Elite was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiaguinho Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. Celso Guimarães took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joel Souto. Joel Souto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Celso Guimarães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Belmiro Falcão fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tropa Elite's protests and gave Belmiro Falcão a yellow card for diving instead. After 41 played minutes Tropa Elite got a freekick which was hit by Belmiro Falcão. If Celso Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel Souto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celso Guimarães, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. When Canoas United's Alan dos Santos in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tropa Elite's goalie prevented a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wilton Mazza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With his leg Joel Souto managed to avoid a goal in the 52ndth minute, when Canoas United's Celso Guimarães fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Celso Guimarães, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 61 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Joel Souto was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Canoas United's Nestor Veiga quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Dedé Gaspar, made in the 64th minute of the game. Celso Guimarães had several of the Tropa Elite's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 65 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-3 score and a disappointed Joel Souto as he didn't even see the shot coming. Tropa Elite were furious when Anísio de Senna was red carded, 71 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 71st minute of the game. One of Tropa Elite:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Canoas United:s goal. If Manuel Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 82 minutes of play, Canoas United's Celso Guimarães made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joel Souto was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Celso Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tropa Elite's defense didn't have a chance, in the 92nd minute, when Celso Guimarães scored to the left of an out of position Joel Souto, making the score, 2-6. Manuel Carvalho was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 97th minute. Canoas United's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The Tropa Elite fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Canoas United were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
