Nelson Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sérgio de Salles in the 6th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Abadia's zone, Manuel Carvalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yuri Maranhense came out of the goal and Manuel Carvalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute, Sérgio de Salles left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Abadia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A sloppy throw-in by Adalberto Arce in the 19th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Canoas United's Nestor Veiga. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nestor Veiga in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yuri Maranhense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Celso Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 24 played minutes, Canoas United's Edmílson Fernandes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Yuri Maranhense came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Canoas United reached it. If Manuel Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Yuri Maranhense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Celso Guimarães in the 29th minute of the match. If Manuel Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Abadia booed when Canoas United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Celso Guimarães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Celso Guimarães did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Yuri Maranhense 35 minutes into the match. Celso Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Yuri Maranhense having to interfere. Celso Guimarães struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Yuri Maranhense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canoas United. 43 minutes into the game, Rogério Seco recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Yuri Maranhense. Rogério Seco showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. Abadia's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Celso Guimarães 47 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Celso Guimarães stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Sidney Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Abadia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Canoas United the free kick. A collision led to Abadia getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Sidney Nascimento hit a great ball. Celso Guimarães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Celso Guimarães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Canoas United getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Alan dos Santos hit a great ball. Nelson Neto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Abadia's zone, Celso Guimarães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yuri Maranhense came out of the goal and Celso Guimarães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nelson Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Nascimento in the 65th minute of play. Celso Guimarães blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Yuri Maranhense having to make a save. Celso Guimarães got in the 70th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Yuri Maranhense handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. After 72 played minutes Abadia got a freekick which was hit by Adrianinho Godoi. Manuel Carvalho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edmílson Fernandes during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 77th match minute, Canoas United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmílson Fernandes to maneuver through the defense. In the 79th minute Sidnei Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Neto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 82 minutes into the game, Alan dos Santos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Yuri Maranhense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Manuel Carvalho struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Canoas United fully deserved thier win.
