When Víktor Souza fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored New los Angeles's protests and gave Víktor Souza a yellow card for diving instead. New los Angeles's Celsinho Matos suffered a concussion in the 42nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. 42 minutes into the game, Norberto Carneiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Intas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave New los Angeles the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of Intas:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of New los Angeles:s goal. After the first half New los Angeles were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Claudinho Netto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Marcelinho Furtado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Augusto Moreira in the 52nd minute of play. New los Angeles's Marcelinho Furtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silvinho Sena in the 56th minute of play. Claudinho Netto hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Diego Sergipano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Rafal Zaworski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 69 minutes into the game, New los Angeles's Claudinho Netto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luisinho Ferraz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Rafal Zaworski tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luisinho Ferraz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. New los Angeles had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
